SUPPORT FOR STUDENTS AT WEST DEAN

West Dean has an international profile for conservation and arts education. At the heart of all we do, is our belief that ‘making’ makes our lives better. We celebrate the intrinsic value of work that has been hand-made by artists and artisans and challenge the assumption that mass-produced must be the only way because, across the world, the maker movement is growing.

Underpinning it all is the vision of our founder and Surrealist patron Edward James, connecting today’s students and visitors with a rich heritage of arts, craft and creative possibility.

“For many years, The South Square Trust has supported degree and diploma students at West Dean to study metalwork. The support has been invaluable in enabling the pursuit of dreams and lessening financial pressures too often associated with higher education study. This year, we are incredibly thankful for the Trust’s support towards silversmithing short courses, directed to young graduate level students who are looking for a silversmithing short course that will help them develop their skills.
