Since 2025, we have supported a small number of silversmithing residencies with grants to help with travel and materials costs

Support for Silversmithing Artist Residencies

The South Square Trust supports emerging craft makers and silversmiths who undertake artist-in-residence positions and educational programmes at institutions like The Glasgow School of Art. Recent recipients have included silversmiths and GSA alumni Caitlin Murphy and Militsa Milenkova.

The Artist in Residence Scheme at The Glasgow School of Art has offered me the time and space to develop as a maker. The bursary from the Southsquare Trust has provided me the valuable time and stability to focus on expanding my skills and knowledge as a silversmith. I am proud to have received this award and truly grateful to the Trustees for their generous support and endorsement of my work.
